Leading the way in compliance studies

Our Center for Compliance Studies is home to one of the best compliance programs in the country, featuring a robust compliance curriculum, a compliance advisory board, a student-run journal and blog, annual events, and degree and certificate programs designed to train compliance professionals across industries.

Learn more about how our program can help you prepare for a career in one of the fastest growing industries: compliance.

Compliance curriculum
With more than 40 online and on-campus courses developed specifically for the program, Loyola has an especially robust compliance curriculum. The MJ and LLM in Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management degree programs allow students to concentrate their studies solely in compliance and risk management. Students enrolled in the JD, MJ in Health Law, and LLM in Health Law degree programs may pursue a certificate in compliance studies as part of their program. The curriculum also allows for specific areas of focus in corporate, health care, global, privacy, or research compliance.

Industry certification
Loyola students are eligible to pursue industry certification in compliance or privacy through Loyola’s unique relationships with industry associations and accreditation bodies.

Compliance Certification Board Accreditation

Many compliance positions require certification through the Compliance Certification Board (CCB). Based on the strength of Loyola’s curriculum in compliance, the CCB has accredited Loyola University Chicago School of Law. With this accreditation, Loyola JD, LLM, and MJ students who successfully complete at least 15 hours of compliance course work, on campus or online with a cumulative “B” average for those compliance courses, are eligible to sit for the CCB exams without having to fulfill professional work experience requirements.

The CCB offers the following health care-related certifications:

  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
  • Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC)
  • Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC)

The CCB also offers the following corporate compliance related certifications:

  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional International (CCEP-I)

A CCB certification is a valuable asset and is increasingly becoming a requirement for obtaining a compliance-related job. Loyola’s CCB accreditation allows students a distinct advantage in pursuing these CCB certifications.

International Association of Privacy Professionals Partnership

Loyola has also partnered with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (the “IAPP”). The IAPP created the first professional certification information privacy, and IAPP designations are now the preeminent credentials in the privacy industry. The IAPP offers three certification options:

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
  • Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM)
  • Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT)

Loyola students are eligible to receive training, membership, and certification from the IAPP at a significantly discounted rate. For more information please visit the IAPP’s dedicated Loyola page.

Privacy law program
We are pleased to offer a new Certificate in Privacy Law program, designed to educate all professionals on laws and policies in the increasingly important area of privacy law. This program, separate from our masters-level and JD degrees, offers specialized privacy training for individuals seeking careers in privacy or to better understand this complex and changing field.
