Academic Advising
BACK-TO-SCHOOL NOTES:
To find out who is your University academic advisor and/or department advisor (if one has been assigned), go to LOCUS, then to “Student Center.” Your advisor’s name will be listed in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Please note that all first-year students must participate in mandatory advising by scheduling an individual advising appointment with their academic advisor. First-year students should make an advising appointment during the first week of classes. To schedule an appointment, go to LOCUS, then to “Academics” and “Schedule an Advising Appointment,” or call 773.508.7714. First-year students who wish to drop, add, or change classes for the Fall Semester must meet with an academic advisor by August 29 at 5 p.m.
Academic Advising provides advising services to freshman and sophomore students enrolled in Loyola's undergraduate schools: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Nursing and Social Work and to juniors and transfers in the College of Arts & Sciences. All other students should contact their Dean's Office for advising.
Professional advisors in Academic Advising meet with new Loyola students in order to help you:
- Plan your course of study at Loyola, including what courses to take in the upcoming Fall and Spring Semesters
- Explain university procedures
- Provide you with important academic information
- Connect you with other university offices
