Instruction & Internships
University Archives and Special Collections staff actively encourage faculty and students to use our collections for class instruction and research projects. Collections available for use include Loyola institutional records, manuscript collections, photograph collections, and the rare book collection.
Class Instruction
Is your class learning about using primary sources for research? If so, the staff at the University Archives can help by providing instruction sessions in the following areas:
- introduction to archives / using primary resources
- overview of the collections at Loyola
- Loyola history
Each session is tailored to the specific needs of the individual class. Please contact the University Archivist at kyoung3@luc.edu to set up an instruction session.
Internships and Practicums
Interested in learning about archives and special collections? Loyola's University Archives and Special Collections invites students from Loyola and other institutions to explore the possibility of interning at our repository. Internships usually consist of a small to medium size (2 to 6 linear feet) processing project along with involvement in other activities at the archives including research for reference requests and exhibit preparation (physical and digital). Internships can be tailored to the specific interest of the student. Contact the University Archivist at kyoung3@luc.edu for information.
