Outreach

Loyola University Chicago and CUERP are committed to the advancement of societal understanding and appreciation of the environment in an urban setting through community outreach on campus and in the Chicago metropolitan area through various means.

Creating a network of outreach opportunities helps all those involved develop a greater appreciation for others while building sustainable communities.

Promoting sustainability

CUERP is advancing Loyola's work to create a more sustainable university community.  Educating students, staff and faculty of ways to conserve natural resources and build conservation practices into daily behaviors is important to increase sustainability at Loyola as well as beyond the campus community.

Several sustainable initiatives are taking place at Loyola and they include building sustainability into the curriculum, conducting a campus sustainability baseline analysis, expanding the recycling program, and building infrastructure to reduce energy waste.

 Light Bulb Exchange

Recognizing the importance to help develop opportunities to create a more sustainable campus and community, CUERP supports student projects that result in action.  CUERP, Campus Ministries, and student groups Hillel and the Muslim Student Group (MSA) secured the donation of 300 compact fluorescent bulbs from W.W. Grainger, Inc.

The compact fluorescent bulbs are energy efficient and were distributed during a campus Light Bulb Exchange event.

Campus members interested in saving natural resources exchanged their inefficient bulbs for the energy efficient bulbs.

Following the two day event, over 500 bulbs were exchanged demonstrating the willingness of the Loyola community to take necessary steps in creating a sustainable region.

CUERP invites you to take part in current and new sustainable initiatives at Loyola University Chicago.
