Tenure Track Position

Job Title:  Assistant Professor in Mathematics   (Jump to: Instructor of Mathematics and Statistics)

Background:  Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, invites applications for two fulltime, tenure-track, Assistant Professor positions in Mathematics, beginning in the fall semester of 2012 and pending final approval of funding. Duties and Responsibilities:  The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the department's B.S. and M.S. programs, engaging in a productive program of research, and performing service at the department, college, and university levels.

Minimum Qualifications:  Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, demonstrated experience in and commitment to quality teaching at the university level, and an active research program in non-linear analysis, algebra, or combinatorics. In addition, preference will be given to candidates whose research program is synergistic with the research of one or more members of the department's faculty.

Non-Tenure Track Position

Job Title:  Instructor of Mathematics and Statistics   (Jump to: Assistant Professor in Mathematics)

Background:  The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, College of Arts and Sciences, Loyola University Chicago (LUC) invites applications for the position of Instructor, beginning in the fall semester of 2012 and pending final approval of funding. This is a fulltime, non-tenure track, three-year position with possibility of renewal. More information about the department can be found at www.luc.edu/math.

Duties and Responsibilities:  The successful applicant is expected to teach 7 courses per year (i.e., a 4-3 teaching load) and to engage in some service, including participating in directing the department's elementary mathematics program, which involves coursework up to and including calculus. The incumbent will also be given the opportunity to perform other service at the department, college, and university levels.

Minimum Qualifications:  Applicants must currently hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics, or expect to receive their doctoral degree by June, 2012. Applicants should demonstrate extensive experience in, and commitment to, quality and innovative teaching at the university level.
