Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing!

I am excited to tell you about nursing education at Loyola.  Graduates of the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing are highly regarded in the Chicagoland area and across the nation for their commitment to caring and their dedication to the nursing profession.  The Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing prepares nurses to be clinicians, practitioners, nurse leaders/executives, nurse scholars and nurse researchers by offering a wide array of nursing degrees.  The School of Nursing offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).  In addition, the School of Nursing also houses two non-nursing degrees, a Master's of Science Degree in Dietetics and a Bachelor of Science in Health System Administration.  The Dietetics program also participates in the dietetic internship program.

Loyola's School of Nursing became the first accredited collegiate nursing school in Illinois when they began offering BSN degrees in 1935.  Loyola has been a leader in nursing education ever since.  In fact, our master’s degree program has been rated in the top 8% of all NLN-accredited programs in the nation by US News & World Report’s annual ranking of the best graduate schools.  This high ranking demonstrated the strong commitment the faculty and staff make to the quality of education for our students.

In keeping with Loyola’s dedication to "preparing people to lead extraordinary lives” the School of Nursing provides students with exceptional educational opportunities in diverse health care environments within the Chicagoland area and opportunities to study abroad such as England, Rome, and Belize.

To learn more about the programs offered by the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, I invite you to explore this site and to come to campus for a visit. We would love to have you talk with the students and faculty of the School of Nursing.

I look forward to seeing you soon on campus.
