Resume Critiques
Submitting Your Resume to SBA Careers Online
How do I receive a resume critique?
-
Create an account in SBA Careers Online;
-
Upload a resume in your "Documents" section.
How long does it usually take to receive feedback once I've uploaded my resume?
Typically it takes our staff 1-2 business days to complete a critique but our goal is the shortest turn around time possible.
How do I know that my resume has been critiqued?
There are two ways to know when your resume has been critiqued:
If your resume was found to be competitive, relatively error proof and basically ready for employers to receive it, your account in SBA Careers Online will reflect the document's status as "Approved".
If your resume could use a little development, and most resumes require numerous drafts before it's considered competitive, your will receive a message via email stating that it was not approved and that you should seek advising for assistance.
What does SBA Careers Online have to do with my resume being critiqued?
SBA Careers Online career management system is a robust database that serves as a "hub" or connecting point for students, alumni, employers and Business Career Services. Students and alumni are encouraged to create an account in the system in order to benefit from it's many features. One of the most attractive features is that the database houses job search documents such as resumes, cover letters and writing samples.
Once a resume is in the system, the student/alumni may use it for job applications but it can also be sought by employers who also have an account in the system. In order to connect employers and student/alumni, the BCS team works hard to help prepare the student/alumni to be a competitive candidate. One way we do this is to perform a Resume Critique on EVERY first resume a student/ alumni uploads into SBA Careers Online.
