Summer Program in wrocław, Poland
Loyola Faculty-Led Program
This four-week program combines classroom study with on-site research that exposes students to the transforming European urban environment. Learn how drastic geopolitical changes (the aftermath of WWII, ethnic and national upheavals, the fall of Communism, democratization and European inte-gration) play out in the local setting of a European city and affect its inhabitants.

Loyola Polish Studies faculty leader Prof. Bozena Nowicka McLees teaches language and Polish literature in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.
Target students for this program are undergraduate students who wish to major or minor in Polish Studies or International Studies or who wish to study the art and literature of Poland.
Classes will be taught in English by faculty from the University of Lower Silesia and the New School, NY. Polish language tutorials will be available for all levels of language proficency. Courses taken during the summer will be the following two courses for a total of 6 credit hours:
LITR 202 Exploration in Modernity: Lessons from Central Europe (cross-listed with INTS 204)
Looking at politics through the lens of literature, art and film, the course will examine Central Europe - the home of the first written European constitution, nationalism, Communism, and anti-authoritarian revolts. The course will discuss the role writers, poets and artists have played in instigating and nourishing modern movements in politics and culture.
POST 299 Urban Research Seminar (cross-listed with INTS 292)
Learn about the underlying cultural, historic and social forces at play in the making of Central Europe through experiential learning. Students will work in groups and research a particular neighborhood of Wrocław that em-bodies the complex and multi-layered identity of the city.
Students will be housed in comfortable two-person dormitory rooms in Wrocław

Program fee of $1,150 includes:
- Housing
- Academic group excursions to Prague, Kraków, Auschwitz, and Berlin.
- Local academic site visits in Wroclaw
- On-site program support
Tuition: $3,930 (6 credit hours)
Total cost: $5,080
Not Included: $100 OIP non-refundable application fee, airfare, meals, personal spending money, incidental expenses, international heath insurance (CISI), international student identity card. All students will be required to purchase the Loyola CISI international health insurance separately (approximately $30).
Scholarships
