Bicycling is a great way to get around campus and around town. It's safe, healthy, economical, environmentally conscious, and a wonderful way to meet other people! Loyola has a vibrant cycling community that invites you to join. The Lakeshore campus is located near shopping, culture, entertainment, and the Lakefront Trail, all easily accessible by bike. Always remember to be safe by wearing a helmet, wearing highly visible clothing, using lights at night and locking your bike securely with a high quality U-lock.
Please be mindful of pedestrians on campus, and remember that cycling on the sidewalk is prohibited by Chicago law. Make sure to follow all standard rules of the road. Lock your bike only to bike racks and not to any other location. Misplaced bikes can be an inconvenience to others attempting to use University facilities. Bikes abandoned or locked illegally are subject to removal by Campus Safety.

walk
Walking is the healthiest and least expensive method of transportation to get you around Chicago and Loyola's Lake Shore campus. The majority of Loyola's student population lives within one mile, which can typically be walked in 20 minutes or less. The campus' natural beauty of its lakefront location make it a prime walking destination for all ages.
To encourage walking, lighting has been upgraded along major campus corridors and city footpaths to help make walking safer at night. Also, over 400 blue one-button emergency telephones are located inside and outside campus buildings and throughout the campus grounds.
public transit
Loyola's Water Tower and Lake Shore Campuses are both located close to Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus and train routes, including the #147 and #151 buses, and the Red Line elevated train. CTA bus route numbers #147 and #151 can be tracked using CTA Bus Tracker. To give students the full advantages of public transportation, Loyola participates in the CTA U-Pass program, which gives a student an unlimited number of rides aboard all CTA buses and trains, and eliminates the need to pay cash per ride. RTA Trip Planner is a helpful guide to find your way around the city via trains and buses. For more information, visit: www.luc.edu/upass. shuttle bus service
For more information on the shuttle bus service please click here. Please note: shuttle buses tend to get very crowded during peak hours. Chicago's CTA provides the same campus to campus transit with its Redline train and the 147 bus.
8-Ride
The university also provides an 8-Ride shuttle service Monday through Sunday from 6:30 PM to 2:15 AM. This service is provided to students as an alternative to walking alone on campus after dark. To call an 8-Ride shuttle, simply dial 773-508-7433. Keep in mind its operation is for campus to residence transportation (and vice versa), not you personal Rogers Park taxi!
