Counseling and Wellness
Although college is a time of growth and learning, it is also a time of transition and potential stress. ACE provides several opportunities for its students to grow emotionally as well as academically. Here are some resources to help students thrive in their new college environment:
One of the most beneficial aspects of being in the ACE program is the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an advisor several times throughout the semester to discuss academic and other difficulties and progress. ACE advising helps students set and achieve academic and career goals, answer questions about scholarships and financial aid, and be connected with other campus and community resources. ACE students can meet one-on-one with ACE Advisors by appointment, or by walk-in, when available.
Please find more information about advising scheduling and availability at ACE Advising (LINK).
The ACE Coaches provide academic support and planning services for ACE scholars. Just like a coach in any sport, the Academic Coach’s goal is to assist students to perform to the best of their abilities. The Coaches are specially trained to identify students’ learning styles, reinforce existing and teach new study habits, and evaluate time management skills to effectively approach assignments throughout the academic year.

Adjustment to college life can present inevitable stresses. We understand that anxiety, depression, and a wide variety of other personal problems can prevent students from achieving their full academic and personal potential. ACE has a special partnership with Loyola University Chicago’s Wellness Center committed to providing students with individualized and group counseling with experienced and licensed clinical psychologists and social workers in order to address these concerns. Students can remain secure in the fact that all contact with counselors are kept in strict confidentiality by all Wellness Center staff and remain distinct from any academic records.
Please visit the Loyola University Chicago’s Wellness Center homepage for more information on services provided. Appointments can be made online, by phone, or by speaking first with an ACE representative if preferred.
