Manage Your Organization

Advisors

An advisor is a member of the Loyola faculty or staff who believes in the mission of your student organization and who can provide advice, guidance and experience. For the advisor, involvement in a student organization is a fun way to engage with the university community and develop leadership skills in its students. The exact role an advisor plays in a student organization can vary, and advisors should work with Student Activities and Organizations to help define their roles. For more information, contact the office at: 777.508.8850.

Budgeting

Budgeting is a very important part of the strength and growth of a student organization. A number of resources are available to help organizations manage their budgets effectively:

Contracts

Loyola University Chicago, on behalf of a student organization, may establish contracts with performers. For more information, please see the following resources:

Funding

The Student Activity Fund (SAF) has been established to promote activities planned by student organizations that enhance the quality of student life at the lakeside campuses. The Unified Student Government has the critical responsibility of allocating SAF monies to student organizations via USG Allocation Committee (USGAC).

The Student Activity Fund is guided by Jesuit principles, which challenge students to strive for excellence, become people in service to others, foster out-of-classroom learning, develop talents through discovery and reflection, and be concerned for each person. To this end, the numerous opportunities for interaction and involvement among students, faculty and staff provided by the Student Activity Fund support the intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual development of each member of the Loyola community.

To request a Student Activity Fund allocation, please submit a Funding Request Application (PDF), or for more information, attend a SAF Workshop (PDF).

The Office of Student Affairs offers all students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through workshops, seminars, events and conferences, including the Student Leadership Institute. For more information, contact Student Leadership Development at: 773.508.3912.
