USGA Department of Programming

 General Mission and Purpose

The Unified Student Government Association's Department of Programming at Loyola University Chicago aims to provide a variety of opportunities to socially, culturally, spiritually, and intellectually enrich students' personal and professional lives. Its members are dedicated to the university and work hard to present diverse activities for the whole campus community to enjoy. Members glean lessons based on personal experience, organization, as well as exceptional leadership skills.  The Department reflects the microcosm of integrated diversity found in the Chicago community and offers to build networks, strengthen friendships, and define the collegiate experience.

    • IO (Improv Olympic) Comedy Show! Thursday, October 8th in Mundelein Center Auditorium
WEEK LONG EVENTS

Student Director: Katie Torro

  • Plans and organizes all tailgates, talent contests, and more taking place during week long events.
  • Past events included: DOPpler Effect, Taste of LUC, Winter Week, Mystery Week
  • FALL EVENTS:
    • DOPpler Effect is back! September 14-18, 2009!
      • Events Include: Loyola Talent Showcase, Speed Greeting, Films, "The Office" Trivia and Look-a-like Contest, White Sox Game, Kayaking!
      • Loyola Talent Showcase: Monday, September 14th 5pm in CFSU Lobby! Come here Loyolacapella, Acafellas, Gospel Choir and Mike from 45 Kings perform! Refreshments served.
      • "The Office" Trivia and Look-a-like Contest on Thursday, September 17th in CFSU Bremner Lounge. Come to celebrate the Season Premier!
LARGE EVENTS

Student Director: Kristen Thometz & Kristin Trehearne

  • Design and plan large scale events to suit the interests of the entire campus
  • Events usually include some or all of the following: inflatable activities and obstacles, caricaturists, talent shows, carnival games and food, mechanical bull, etc.
  • Previous events include: Be Chill Bash, Halloween Trick-or-Treat, Suitcase Soiree, and Halloween party in CFSU
CONCERTS

Student Director: Mark Wilkerson

  • Plans and coordinates a fall and spring concert as well as a battle of the bands event in the spring
  • Past concerts include: Lifehouse, Third Eye Blind, Black Eyed Peas, Michelle Branch, Guster, Plain White T’s, Cartel and Carbonleaf, Cake, Virgin Mega College Tour, Talib Kweli
CHICAGO EVENTS

Student Director: Erin Jordan

  • Plan various events within the city of Chicago as well as provide affordable tickets to see Broadway shows and sporting events
  • Previous events include: Cubs Game, Sur La Table cooking classes, Bulls game, outings to see
    Wicked and Jersey Boys, Navy Pier Haunted House, Trips to the Shedd Aquarium
  • FALL EVENTS:
    • White Sox Game September 18th
    • Cubs Game October 2nd
    • Navy Pier Haunted House
ON-CAMPUS EVENTS

    Student Director: James Lagen

    • Host smaller scale events that typically involve crafts inside the student unions.
    • Most of these events take place in the afternoon around lunch hours.
    • Previous events include: Caricature Artist, WTC Scavenger Hunt, Picture frame decorating, Loyola Idol, ornament decorating
    • FALL EVENTS:
      • Speed Greeting! September 15th at 1pm in Bremner Lounge. Come meet some new friends at the start of the school year! Refreshments served.
    DAY TRIPS

      Student Director: Lindsy Fagerstrom

    • Plans and organizes activities taking place outside. Events like camping, biking, rock climbing, etc.
    • Past events included: Ski trip and Paintball
    • FALL EVENTS:
      • KAYAKING TRIP! September 19th tickets on sale at the CFSU Information Desk for $5. Meet in CFSU Lobby at 1pm with your signed waiver and ticket.
