Admission
Whether your goal is to obtain a bachelor's degree; to enhance your skills with a certificate; or to explore various non-credit course offerings in the humanities and professional development; the School of Continuing and Professional Studies can make a difference in your future.
We accept applications on a rolling basis, and we invite you to apply now to any of our terms. We encourage applicants to submit all materials by our suggested deadlines to ensure timely processing of your application. After we have received all required application materials, please allow a minimum of two weeks for an admission decision.
Admission to the School of Continuing and Professional Studies is handled differently by each program. For more information, please select from the programs below:
- BA in Applied Studies, BA in Criminal Justice, BA in Management, BA in Management with a concentration in Healthcare Emergency Management, BA in Management with Paralegal Certificate, and BA in Pastoral Leadership

- Official Transcripts: Applicants must submit official transcripts for all high school work (or a GED report) and any undergraduate work completed. Certified copies of transcripts are acceptable; faxed copies of transcripts are not considered official. Transcripts must be in their original, sealed envelope from the issuing institutions. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts; we have them on record.
- A Personal Statement: You must submit a typed, double-spaced essay of at least 350 words, indicating reasons for seeking further education and how this program will help achieve professional or personal goals.
- Application Fee: A $25 application fee is required for applications submitted by mail. If you complete the online application form, the application fee is waived.
Note: If you are interested in pursuing an non-degree seeking status, please complete the application form and submit unofficial transcripts from colleges attended. Non-degree-seeking status allows a maximum of six hours of enrollment in the Managerial Arts and Leadership program.

To be eligible for admission, your transcript must show an earned bachelor's degree or a bachelor's degree in progress. - Two Letters of Recommendation: If you supply your recommender's e-mail address as part of your completed online application form, then your recommendation letters may be submitted online. Or, your recommenders may choose to mail them to:

We ask that you submit only two letters, no more, no less. - Professional Certificate Programs
*If you are applying to the certificate in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, or Statistics, you must submit results from the Math Placement Test or show successful completion of precalculus. Contact SCPS at 312.915.6501 to schedule an appointment for the Math Placement Test.

- A Personal Statement: You must submit a typed, double-spaced essay of at least 350 words, indicating reasons for seeking further education and how this program will help achieve professional or personal goals. Please include the name of the certificate to which you are applying in your opening sentence or on the heading of your statement.

- International Students
Applicants may be required to submit additional materials:
- Language Test Requirement: An official TOEFL or IELTS score report is required for international applicants whose native language is not English. For the TOEFL, a score of at least 79 on the Internet-based or 550 on the written-based test is required. Paralegal Applicants must score at least a 114 on the Internet-based or a 650 on the written based test. For the IELTS, a minimum score of 6.5 is required.
Copies and faxes are not accepted as official documents; we must receive test scores directly from the testing service.
This requirement is waived for those who have completed a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree program and those who are citizens of or have completed a bachelor's degree at a recognized institution at which the language of instruction is English in these countries: Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand. - Transcript Evaluation: Applicants who completed post-secondary education abroad are required to submit non-U.S. transcripts to Educational Perspectives for evaluation of credentials. The evaluation must be a Catalog Match Evaluation Report.
