Planned Giving

Benefitting Loyola, benefitting the future

Planned and legacy giving is a way to continue your relationship with Loyola far into the future. A framework of philanthropy can provide benefits for your family, and for Loyola, for generations to come. The making of appropriate, significant charitable contributions is an art. And, like any art, it is a living, creative process that adapts to the changing needs of the donor.

For more information about planned giving, please contact Jamie Orsini, director of planned giving, at 312.915.6424 or jorsini@luc.edu.

Our nation's tax laws recognize the role of charitable organizations in meeting public needs that are of benefit to society, and as a result, provide incentives to encourage charitable giving. Through thoughtful charitable planning, donors can expect some or all of the following benefits of thoughtful charitable planning:

  • Satisfaction from supporting Loyola and its students, faculty, and mission
  • Income-tax savings through charitable deduction for the value of the gift
  • Avoidance of the capital-gain tax on contributions of appreciated, long-term, capital-gain property with respect to certain gifts
  • Retained payments for the life of a donor and/or other beneficiaries
  • The possibility of a higher rate of return than currently provided by the contributed asset
  • Elimination of federal estate tax on the value of the interest in property passing to charity upon the donor's death
  • Reduced estate-settlement costs

Our Office of Planned Giving is ready to help you construct a giving strategy that best fits your circumstances, and can provide for your family while giving back to Loyola. We will take the time to personally assist you in navigating the ever-changing tax provisions, or with wording or other specific bequests, so that you can derive the greatest benefit from your gift while seeing your support meet your philanthropic goals.

If you wish to make a gift online, you may do so here, or by contacting Loyola at 800.424.1513.
