What's New in the College

New Department of Fine and Performing Arts

The College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce the formation of a new department of fine and performing arts, a combination of existing programs in fine arts, music and theatre, as well as a newly formed program in dance. The fine and performing arts department will foster interdisciplinary collaboration among its units, coordinate artistic and academic activities, and sponsor a full array of performances, exhibitions and symposia. Professional programming will complement students' artistic products, offering a regular forum for exchange between students and professionals and strengthening Loyola's role as a cultural force in the community.

The department's newly formed dance program offers Loyola undergraduates the opportunity to minor in dance. The minor includes studio techniques courses in ballet, modern dance and jazz, as well as lecture courses in world dance, dance history, pedagogy and theory.
