Project Merry Christmas
The Project Merry Christmas Canned Food Drive is an annual tradition at Loyola. Each year, Loyola Students spend a Saturday morning collecting canned foods to be sent to Glenmary Farm in Vanceburg, Kentucky. The canned goods donated by our neighbors in Edgewater and Rogers Park and collected by our students provide 3 months worth of food for hundreds of families in Appalachian Kentucky.
If you live in Edgewater or Rogers Park (between Pratt Blvd and Elmdale Ave, east of Clark Street), you can donate canned goods on the day of the canned food drive. On Saturday, December 7th between 9-12 AM, Loyola students will be coming by to ask for donations. If you know you will not be home during that time and would still like to donate, please leave a bag or box with your donation in it outside your door with a note saying, "Project Merry Christmas Donation."
You can also donate a canned good and receive discounted admission to the following performances done by Loyola's Department of Fine and Performing Arts. The following performances are offering free admission for anyone who donates a canned good (click here for a complete schedule):
- Twelfth Night
- Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
- Orchestra, Wind, and Percussion Ensembles Concert
- Organ Concert Series: Elizabeth Waldon
- Dance Informance
- Lessons and Carols
Donations may also be dropped off anytime between now and December 7 at the welcome desk on the first floor of Mundelein. Thank you for your generosity and support for our friends in Kentucky!
