Get Outdoors Loyola: Post Orientation Canoe Journey 2013

Dates: 7/17–7/25/2013

Destination: Flambeau River, WI

Cost: $600.00 (financial assistance available)

Tentative Schedule

Day 1, Wednesday
Participants arrive LUC, Equipment Check, On-Campus Orientation, Spend the night at the Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC)

Day 2, Thursday
We will drive 7 hours north and camp in a State Park

Day 3, Friday
After a detailed paddle school, we will launch onto the river and start our journey down river.

Day 4, Saturday
A typical field day: We will wake up early, eat a hearty breakfast, pack up camp and paddle through beautiful scenery until lunch, eat, paddle some more and then setup camp in a new location each night. We will spend 7-10 hours paddling each day. The river will become more challenging each day requiring new skills to be learned and applied. Once into camp, we will eat a delicious dinner, reflect on the day, spend time getting to know the group and get some rest for the next day.

Days 5–7, Sunday–Tuesday
Field Day

Day 8, Wednesday
Exit Field, We will return to LUREC to clean gear and close out our experience.

Day 9, Thursday
Final breakfast together and closing group reflection. Transfer to O'Hare International Airport (if flying, please do not schedule departures before 2:30 p.m.) or Lake Shore Campus (we plan to arrive by 3 p.m.)
