Attending a four year University for the first time is a big step for many students. To assist in this transition, 30 first year freshmen and first year transfer students who identify as a student of color and/or first generation are invited to attend a three night experience at Loyola University Chicago. Through learning about the transition to college, gaining tools, sharing stories about personal and academic success, this experience will provide the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with peers, current students, and staff. Join us for a fun, interactive, and reflective experience to begin creating your community at Loyola.
"The community events made me feel like I belong to Loyola. They gave me a safe space to be myself and where I know I won't be judged."
"Being able to contact [SDMA] whenever I needed help with anything (e.g. finding more information, or even figuring out where a building is) has been really nice, because it just feels good knowing that I can rely on them if I need to."
"The most helpful would be the workshop where we learned about resources on campus and who we could talk to. Also, having other [students] to talk to."
"It was a great way to get to know what to expect from Loyola, and make a few new friends."
