Fit Club is a fitness program that allows participants to work with a personal trainer and a work out partner to get in shape and win prizes! Prizes awarded for the highest percentage of weight lost, most improved in body composition, most improved in strength, and most improved in strength and endurance.!

What is it?
StepUp LUC is a wellness program designed to improve the general health of the Loyola Community through daily cumulative movement. This program is designed to encourage members to take 10,000 steps a day as recommended by the American Heart Association. The average American steps approximately 2,500 steps per day.

How does it work?
Every participant will have access to the StepUp LUC website to log his/her steps, find possible walking trails, find upcoming events and browse available resources to help improve overall health. Each day, after you are done walking, record your steps. The next morning, log onto the StepUp website and submit your steps. The website will be updated daily to show the leading steppers. 

What is included?
Every program participant will receive a pedometer, information on gaining additional steps, the benefits of achieving 10,000 steps per day and a program brochure outlining prize levels. Prizes will be awarded based on total steps taken. Prizes include fitness apparel and accessories, water bottles, totes and so much more. 

How do I sign up?
StepUp is free to all full-time undergraduate students and Halas Members. Non-Halas members may sign up by paying a registration fee of $30 at Halas Sports Center. (Registration fee for non-Halas Members must be paid prior to the informational meeting). Sign up by sending an email with your name, preferred time and preferred date for the informational meeting to fitness@luc.edu.

 

   ACE Personal Trainer Course

Would you like to become a CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER?!?!
Halas Sports Center has partnered with the American Council on Exercise to provide the Personal Trainer Curriculum.

What is it?
The ACE Personal Trainer Course is designed to help future fitness trainers prepare to take the ACE Personal Trainer exam.  There will be two components included in the class: theoretical and applied training skills.  Twelve hours of classroom instruction will be supplemented by four to six hours of practical experience.

What is included?
In addition to classroom instruction and practical experience, participants will receive:

  • ACE Personal Trainer manual
  • Master the Manual Study Guide
  • Sample Tests
  • 20% Discount on the exam fee
  • CPR instruction and certification
