Resume Referral: Web Resume Books

Resume referral is managed through Web resume books in the eRecruiting system. Students and alumni seeking internships or jobs register for Career Development Center services in eRecruiting, and upload and publish one or more resumes to eRecruiting's Web resume books.

Employers may search the Web resume books for potential candidates and will make direct contact with the individuals whom they choose to interview.  Career Development Center staff may perform a search of a Web resume book on behalf of an employer and refer the resulting student/alumni resumes to the employer.

In either case, keep in mind that employers set their own policies and procedures to manage their hiring processes. While the Career Development Center encourages open and timely communication, it has no control over or responsibility for employers' recruitment policies and procedures.

There are three kinds of Web resume books:

Experience Web Resume Book
A global book which may be viewed by employers registered with Experience.com or with the Career Development Center. Use this book if you want the widest possible exposure for your resume, or are interested in positions outside Chicago.

All Full-Time Candidates and All Internship Candidates
This resume book may be viewed only by employers registered with the Career Development Center. Employers may use a variety of search criteria to locate candidates to match their positions.  Be sure to select  the correct book for your level of professional experience.

Targeted Resume Books
These resumes are grouped by job function or industry to make it easier for employers to locate appropriate candidates. Publish your resume only to targeted resume books that match your academic background or work experience.

IMPORTANT: Do not publish your resume in all targeted Web resume books. Resumes which are published to inappropriate Web resume books—those that do not match either academic or employment background—will be removed from the book by the eRecruiting administrator.

Any resume published to a Web resume book may be viewed by any employer registered with the Career Development Center. When you are no longer hunting for a job or internship, remove your resume from all Web resume books to which it was posted.
