Student Employment Awards
Nominations Taken February 25 - March 29
In celebration of National Student Employment Week, April 7-13, 2013, Loyola Students, Staff, and Faculty are invited to nominate outstanding student employees or an entire student staff for a Student Employment Award.
Student or student staff must be either employed by Loyola University Chicago or by an Off Campus Community Work-Study Site;
Student or student staff must be currently enrolled (undergraduate, graduate, or law student may participate);
Nominees do not need to be present at the awards ceremony to receive the award;
Students MAY be nominated more than once and/or for multiple categories;
Each student or student staff must meet award description (see below).
- The Arrupe Award: This award, also known as the Cura personalis award. is a Latin phrase, common within Jesuit communities that means “care of the individual (or person)”. The person who receives this award has demonstrated considerable care towards the individuals (co-workers or customers) he/she serves at work. The award is named for Fr. Pedro Arrupe, S.J. a Jesuit priest who created the phrase “person for others.”
- The Cura Apostolica Award: This award, also known as Person for the Institution Award, is named after another common Jesuit reference. It refers to the apostolic care with which the superior devotes himself to taking care of and preserving the institution. The person who receives this award has demonstrated considerable care in his/her work tasks, commitment and attitude in promoting, developing and supporting the organization or institution where he/she is employed.
- The Ignation Spirit Award: This award is also known as the Staff or Team Spirit Award. It is given to the team or staff of employees who work with the passion and dedication as if they live each day to “go forth and set the world on fire.”
Winners will be notified by April 15, 2013. Awards will be presented during the Weekend of Excellence, April 19-21, 2013.
