"The Iron Cage: The Story of the Palestinian Struggle for Statehood," a lecture by Dr. Rashid Khalidi, Edward Said Chair in Arab Studies at Columbia University

Sponsored by the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Co-sponsored by the International Studies Program and the Department of Political Science.

Dr. Rashid Khalidi is President of the American Committee on Jerusalem, and editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies. He was an advisor to the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid and Washington Arab-Israeli peace negotiations from October 1991 until June 1993.

In his address to Loyola students, faculty, staff and guests, Dr. Khalidi discussed the Palestinian struggle for statehood. Following the lecture, he signed copies of his books and spoke with students about his academic research and personal experiences in Palestine.

Lecture guests had the opportunity to purchase autographed copies of several of Dr. Khalidi's books.
