Professor Sobe is a comparative education scholar who specializes in the history of education. His research examines the the historical and international contexts of schooling and together with theories of curriculum and pedagogy, both in the United States and in East/Central and Southeastern Europe. His work has been published in Educational Theory and Paedagogica Historica. He is currently at work on a history of the international emergence of the problematic of the child's attention as a pedagogical and educational research concern.
