The CCRT seeks to address violence comprehensively through these activities:
The CCRT advises the development of prevention education and social marketing messages to shape the campus culture. All incoming students receive prevention education during Discover Loyola and online. Bystander intervention programs, targeted at the residence halls and Greek Life, will teach students to speak up against violence. Poster campaigns and other social marketing messages seek to raise awareness of violence-related issues on campus and to contribute to a culture of nonviolence, in accordance with Loyola’s social justice mission.
The CCRT is committed to the needs of student survivors of violence. CCRT partners communicate regularly to create a streamlined response system on campus. Faculty and staff receive training to be a “safe place” for students to talk about violence they have experienced. The CCRT is also responsible for promoting advocacy services available to survivors of sexual assault on campus. Trained advocates are available to provide support, information, and referrals.
- Policies & Procedures
Each year, the CCRT reviews and revises the domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking policies in the Student Handbook. The CCRT also reviews and advises the development of policies and procedures in departments like Campus Safety, Residence Life, Ministry, and the Wellness Center. The CCRT is also responsible for tracking incidents of these forms of violence among Loyola students and actively encourages reporting of these crimes.
Trainings related to domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking are conducted on campus for CCRT members and other relevant staff. These trainings help staff better respond to student survivors of violence, provide updates about current laws and advancements in the field, and create dialogue amongst departments. All staff in Campus Safety and the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution receive mandatory training on sexual assault and dating violence yearly. All CCRT departments can also participate in advanced training.
