Inclusive education involves all students in the learning process, regardless of their skills, culture, ethnicity or gender. This session, part of a series of seminars on teaching and learning, will focus on the importance of inclusive classrooms, how faculty can facilitate an inclusive classroom and how we can enhance our teaching styles to successfully involve all students. Presentations will feature:

  • An overview of Ignatian pedagogy and how it supports and promotes inclusive teaching in Jesuit education – Jennifer Haworth, Mission & Ministry
  • Teaching strategies, skills and ways to empower students in the classroom – Suzette Speight, School of Education, and Maria Vidal de Haymes, School of Social Work
  • Tools and techniques for inclusive teaching – Jeanne Kim, Information Technology Services
  • Strategies for evaluating inclusiveness in the classroom – Adam Tarnoff, Office of Learning Technologies and Assessment
