Children's Memory and Learning

Learning to Remember

Welcome to the Memory and Learning Lab at Loyola University Chicago. Our research, including The Children’s Memory Study and the Engineering Learning Project, is directed by Catherine A. Haden, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology.

‌Our research team is i‌nterested in children's learning and remembering, and the important role that parents can play in children's cognitive development. Some of our work involves longitudinal observations of parent-child interactions over time as children's skills for learning and remembering develop. Other work involves teaching parents the best ways to promote children's memory. Another branch of our research program explores ways parents and other educators can support children's learning of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). All of the work is aimed at contributing to understanding and improving young children's cognitive skills.

The lab provides research opportunities for students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

We invite you to read about our ongoing projects. You can also view publications and presentations.  For additional information about our research activities, please contact Dr. Haden.
