Learning to Remember

Welcome to the Memory and Learning Lab at Loyola University Chicago. Our research, including The Children’s Memory Study and the Engineering Learning Project, is directed by Catherine A. Haden, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology.

‌‌‌‌‌Dr. Haden and her team are broadly i‌nterested in children's learning and remembering. We focus especially on the important role that parents can play in children's memory and narrative development. Some of our work involves longitudinal observations of parent-child interactions over time,‌ to study children's developing skills for remembering. Other work involves teaching parents ways to promote children's memory. In a third branch of our research program, we observe families in museums, and explores ways parents and other educators can support children's learning of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). All of the work is aimed at contributing to understanding and improving young children's cognitive skills.

The lab provides research opportunities for students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. 

Dr. Haden WILL be accepting a new graduate student for Fall 2016.
