Strengthening Child Welfare Reponse to Child Trafficking

New York State

The CHRC is working with the International Organization for Adolescents (IOFA) to help child welfare processionals in New York to improve the identification of child trafficking victims. The project is aimed at building the knowledge capacity of child welfare responders, stakeholders, and key first responders to better identify and respond to child sex and labor trafficking in NewYork State. The CHRC is working to develop a valid screening instrument, and an assessment of training and capacity building activities. The project will be administered by the CHRC Director, Katherine Kaufka Walts, in collaboration with Co-chairs Dr. Deborah Baskin and Dr. Ira Sommers of the Dept of Criminal Justice & Criminology.

The CHRC will assist IOFA in developing the Child Right: Building Child Welfare Response to Child Trafficking program model in New York.  (Spring 2013)
