From the Vatican to Loyola: Ethics and AI
Last week, President Mark C. Reed joined Chicago leaders for a private audience with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, where the pontiff noted his family’s Loyola ties. Reed called the experience “a grace-filled moment” and will return next month with Jesuit university presidents. The visit coincides with Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical on artificial intelligence, urging ethical innovation and human dignity. At Loyola, faculty are engaging these questions and examining how technology can serve the common good and shape our shared future.
