About Us

The Department of Community Relations serves as Loyola's official connection between the University and the surrounding neighborhoods of the Lakeshore and Water Tower Campuses.

We are actively involved in supporting and encouraging the on-going revitalization of the neighborhoods through our involvement with local schools, CAPS (community policing), block clubs, chambers of commerce, and community councils.

In that role we work to educate students about their rights and responsibilities when they rent private apartments in Edgewater and Rogers Park and we mediate situations between students, landlords, and non-student neighbors when necessary.

Additionally, Community Relations facilitates inclusive processes that involve the neighborhood residents and local elected officials in all areas of campus planning and development.
