Loyola Neighborhood News: Lake Shore Campus - V3, I2

The departments of Alumni Relations and Student Development will collaborate to present Loyola’s Homecoming Weekend, providing events scheduled for Friday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011.

A combination of previous celebrations such as Spirit Week, Family Weekend, Midnight Madness, and Alumni Reunion Weekend, this three-day celebration will feature a wide variety of programming for alumni, students, families, faculty, staff, and friends.

In the absence of a football team, Associate Director of Alumni Relations Sarah Malouf explained that the weekend will celebrate the spirit and pride associated with homecoming events.

“We really want to build a spirit of tradition,” said Malouf. “This year’s homecoming weekend will be a comprehensive event for the entire Loyola community.”

The weekend’s festivities plan to provide volunteer service opportunities, open houses, receptions, campus tours, and more, allowing attendees to celebrate and interact together.

For the sports-oriented crowd, programming will include several games, including women’s volleyball, rugby, and men’s soccer. Midnight Madness, the first official practices for men’s and women’s basketball and a popular showcase for Rambler pride will concludeFriday evening’s schedule.

“Our goal is to bring the entire Loyola community together and rally for a common cause,” added Malouf. “We hope to see Homecoming Weekend provide a wide spectrum of opportunities for our community to connect and celebrate Loyola pride.”
