Production for Student Guide Ramblin' Around Begins

Loyola Neighborhood News: Lake Shore Campus - V3, I8

While summer break may have just started, Campus and Community Planning is already gearing up for fall with the planning of Ramblin’ Around, an annual publication that connects students with the best dining,  shopping, and cultural establishments near the Lake Shore and Water Tower campuses.

The guide is collaboration between students and community, created and designed by Loyola work study interns who will work with local businesses and organizations like the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce and the Rogers Park Business Alliance during summer months. The guide will then be given to new Loyola students and made available at key locations around campus.

Over the next few weeks, students will be identifying and contacting local businesses about advertising and inclusion in the guide. Any organizations interested in spreading the word about their existence throughRamblin’ Around are encouraged to contact Campus and Community Planning.

One only needs to stop and look around the neighborhoods of Rogers Park and Edgewater, as well as surrounding the Water Tower, to see some of the exciting changes occurring in the Loyola community. From the new construction at the University to new businesses popping up on Broadway and other areas, these changes serve to foster a commerce community around campus which will drive students toward local businesses.

Ultimately, this benefits everyone: students have an enhanced educational experience through dining, shopping and taking in the local sights, while businesses get a boost from a vibrant set of consumers.  In the past the guide has been a great success in connecting these two forces, and this will certainly continue withRamblin’ Around 2012-2013.
