Parking

               General Information

Loyola University appreciates the cooperation and courtesy shown to one another by students, staff, faculty, and friends who observe established parking rules and regulations. Rules and regulations are put into effect to control the use of limited parking facilities and to minimize inconveniences and dangers to members of the University community.

Parking a motor vehicle on one of the Lakeside Campuses, (Lake Shore, Water Tower, and Mallinckrodt) is a privilege and not a right. Given the limited number of parking spaces available, a parking permit does not guarantee a space will be available at all times. This is especially true during times when the University is sponsoring a special event that requires reserved parking spaces. This does not, however, give a person the right to park illegally.

               Visitor and Special Event Parking

Visitors and guests may park in the following lots (see map for exact locations) by paying in cash or purchasing a parking pass. Parking passes can be purchased at the LSC Parking Structure Office or Security Office, both located in the Parking Structure. Visitor lots close nightly at 2:00 a.m. Overnight parking is prohibited without written approval from Campus Police.

            • P-1 (Parking Structure) $7.00 per day, cash or credit accepted.
            • P-2 (Fordham Garage) $5.00 per day, cash or credit accepted.

Request for special guest parking should be submitted to the Parking Office at least 48 hours in advance by the sponsoring department head, directory, dean, vice president, or their associates. Special event parking requests should be submitted at least 14 days in advance. This time is needed to coordinate and de-conflict the numerous parking requests received. You may submit this request to the office of special events, (773) 508-8069.

               Towing Policy

The decision to tow a vehicle will not be lightly undertaken. In most cases the Campus Police will make every effort to contact the owner/operator in an attempt to get the vehicle moved prior to towing. There are, however, certain circumstances where towing will be justified without prior notice. These include:

            • Vehicles blocking a legally parked vehicle.
            • Vehicles parked in emergency lanes.
            • Vehicles illegally parked in a resident lot.
            • Vehicles illegally parked on Loyola property after 2:00 a.m.
            • Vehicles may be towed upon receipt of a fifth parking citation.

Towing of vehicles will be at the owner's expense. Loyola University assumes no liability for vehicles towed.
