Water Tower Campus Updates
April 10, 2013
Those who frequent the Terry Student Center are likely aware that renovations on the space are already underway. With this note, we’d like to bring the University community up-to-speed on the immediate changes and provide an overview of what to expect in the coming weeks and months.
Fitness Space—The current fitness space in Baumhart Hall, located on the fourth floor, will close permanently on April 16. A new, and larger, fitness space will open on April 19 on the third floor of the Terry Student Center. Hours of operation will be Monday–Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m and Saturday–Sunday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The new space will feature cardio equipment and a studio that will host group fitness classes. The space will be free for Baumhart Hall residents. Loyola faculty and staff on the Water Tower Campus, as well as graduate students, will have access to the space, for a fee. Graduate students, faculty, and staff on the Water Tower Campus can purchase summer session, semester, or annual memberships. Individuals who purchase a membership for the Water Tower Campus space will also have access to the Halas Recreation Center on the Lake Shore Campus.
A week-long open house will begin on April 19 so faculty, staff, and graduate students can check out the space and pick up more detailed information, including costs, about membership. Please plan to stop by.
Bookstore—As announced a few weeks back, the Water Tower Campus bookstore is currently operating out of a temporary space on the seventh floor of the Corboy Law Center. The bookstore will move back to the Terry Student Center, on the second floor, in mid-August.
Other upgrades occurring over the summer include the closing of the food court on the second floor and the opening of a new dining facility in the old bookstore space. Plans also call for the opening of a Water Tower Campus Wellness Center and additional Conference Services space. We will provide more details in the coming weeks about these exciting changes.
