New Student Convocation

About the Event

What is Convocation?

The New Student Convocation is an annual tradition when all freshmen are officially inducted into their graduating class, and their academic careers officially begin at Loyola University Chicago.

Welcoming New Students

As students approach the end of The Convocation Walk they will enter into a vibrant and spirited “welcome tunnel” formed by members of the faculty and staff. Your participation in this initiative is very important to the success of the tradition, and your participation will ensure a positive, welcoming experience for our students.

To participate in the welcome tunnel, please plan to meet on the southeast doors of the Norville Center for Intercollegiate Athletics at 3 p.m., on Friday, August 22. To create excitement and to set the tone, we ask that you wear Loyola gear or colors.

We will provide free Loyola ballcaps to volunteers at the tunnel on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Please join us in welcoming these new students to our Loyola Community!
