Part 3: What are the specific requirements for the University Core?

Knowledge Areas

This curriculum expands the horizons of students' understanding of themselves and the world through a breadth of learning in 10 distinct areas. Courses in the Core Curriculum reinforce the development of skills and integrate understanding of values.

By linking learning outcomes in the knowledge areas with our core skills, students learn how to learn. Each course in the knowledge areas also develops one or more of the following skills: Communication Skills, Critical Thinking, Ethical Awareness, Information Literacy, Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis and Research Methods, and Technological Literacy.



Values Areas

Students will complete coursework on values in their undergraduate studies. These course requirements may be fulfilled in university Core or major or elective courses. Courses approved for Values requirements may also apply to fulfillment of Core or major field requirements.
