Chicagoland Partners for English Language Learners

District Partners

For the 2014-2015 academic year, CPELL has partnered with seven Chicagoland school districts to provide administrative, teacher, and parent support programming. These data-driven programs are developed in response to unique expressed need of the groups in the districts. Administrative and teacher professional development sessions are generally offered during in-service days or at a mutually agreed upon time that minimizes time away from teaching or administrative duties. Data-driven parent programming is generally held at times convenient for most parents when they will be on their school campus. This purposeful planning allows families the time and space to participate in the programming in which they are interested.

Additionally, the CPELL cohort is made up of teachers employed by these districts who desire to become proficient in bicultural/bilingual education. An important goal of CPELL is to help these cohort members become highly qualified within their home schools and districts, to utilize networks developed with other partner districts, and to help build capacity.

Governing Board

The CPELL Governing Board meets twice yearly. These meetings serve not only to share updates on projects and programming, but to discuss challenges and successes within each district. Idea sharing often takes place.

At the Spring 2013 meeting, a number of our current CPELL scholars attended, sharing projects from their current course of study. The pictures that follow are from these presentations.
