Rola Khishfe received the Ph.D. in science education from Illinois Institute of Technology (2004); M.A. in science
education from American University of Beirut (AUB, 1999); Certification in teaching secondary science from AUB (1995);
B.S. in biology from AUB (1992).
Dr. Khishfe has taught at both the school and university levels. Her school teaching includes experiences at the
elementary, middle, and high school levels in urban and suburban settings. She has taught general science, chemistry,
and biology. At the university level, she has instructed science methods, analysis of classrooms, and curriculum
courses.
Dr. Khisfe's research interests focus on the teaching and learning about nature of science and scientific inquiry in
K-12 grades, as well as in teacher education settings for preservice and inservice teachers. She is mainly interested
in developing frameworks to effectively teach nature of science and develop informed views of nature of science
among students, as advocated in current national reform movements in science education, as well as help teachers
integrate nature of science and scientific inquiry into their instructional practices.
