AP Environmental Science Workshop
July 7-11, 2014 (at LUREC)
In this week-long summer APSI in Environmental Science, participants will review the course structure and discuss future changes in the curriculum. Using this knowledge we will develop a scenario to guide students in understanding what is expected of them as well as using our knowledge of the course to adjust and refine our instruction to better meet student's goals.
Once objectives and benchmarks have been established, the focus will be on teaching students how to be critical readers and persuasive writers by expanding their vocabulary, gathering information and using evidence to write analytical essays and solve problems.
There will be an emphasis on laboratory and field work to explore environmental interactions, problems, and proposed solutions now and in the future.
The Environmental Science workshop will take place at Loyola University's Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC) in Woodstock, IL.
