Boeing Middle School Math Endorsement

The Center for Science and Math Education, in association with Boeing Corporation and the Office of Math and Science of Chicago Public Schools is proud to announce a new program designed for CPS teachers seeking their 6th-8th grade middle school math endorsements.

These six courses will satisfy the mathematics component of the State of Illinois requirements to earn the middle school math endorsement. The content in these courses will address the State of Illinois Learning Goals (6-10), content area standards for educators, core technology goals and assessment and evaluation in classrooms. All courses will receive graduate credit from Loyola University and will be taught by math educational professionals who have significant experience working with CPS teachers.

Because of generous funding from Boeing, Loyola and CPS, tuition for all courses is free of charge for teachers selected into the program. Additionally, all instructional materials will be provided, and each teacher in the program will receive a graphing calculator from Loyola.

The courses individually, and the sequence as a whole will provide depth of knowledge in content, pedagogy and technology to allow teachers to become superb and innovative math educators. The program begins with our first course on May 2, 2007, and the complete endorsement program can be completed within 14 months.

We will admit teachers to the program on a rolling basis. Because the first course begins on May 2, applications must be submitted no later than April 15, 2007, although all seats in the program may have been filled by that time, so please apply early.

For more information about this program, please contact Laurie Jordan at 773 508 8666 or email her at lbraga@luc.edu. A schedule of classes appears below, and a short description of our courses is available here.
