ASPIRE FAQs
- What is the address to mail the data to Loyola?
- IL-ASPIRE Coordinator Center for School Evaluation, Intervention and Training (CSEIT) School of Education 11th floor, Loyola University Chicago, 820 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611
- What is by the item "mean score for area" on page 6 of the data protocol form?
Page 6 of the data protocol relates to the skills screened which could be one of the ones listed in the second row of that page, or others skills not listed. In this context, "mean scores for area" means "means scores for the skill screened".
- Data Protocol (pg. 7). Regarding Office Referrals. The document says NON-SWIS schools. If you ARE a PBIS site, how do (or do we) get the data to you? The same question I have about reading data. Is there a way to upload the DIBELS/AIMSweb data to you?
Loyola will take care of directly uploading into VIMEO any data which can be pulled from another web site such as DIBELS, AIMSweb, PBIS.
- Related to Page 6 (Data Protocol form) CBM measures:
- Are these data collected this spring (and due May 1st) uploaded to the Loyola system or should internal coaches use the hard copy to record data and send it on to you?
Internal coaches should use either hardcopies or electronic versions of the Data Protoocol form and the SAPSI. Hardcopies or electronic versions of the Data Protocol form and the SAPSI need to reach Loyola by 30APR07. Please keep in mind that we are using paper versions of the data until online versions of the assessments and forms are on VIMEO.
- How should missing data be handled (e.g., some data might have been lost electronically due to an error by the data management system and cannot be retrieved)?
Overall, we will have to wait until this first pass of data collection is completed to assess issues with missing data and how to address them. Two possible sources come to mind: First, if the data is lost within another data system, second, if the data from the data protocol forms or SAPSI gets lost. The first case is out of our control and we will need to see how to deal with that problem.
- Related to the question of the percent below benchmark and number of students below benchmark, should sites use national norms to determine these or if they are using local norms should those be used?
Sites should specify if they use statewide, national or local norms. As long as there is no change in the norms used across the data collection process there should be no problem. Ergo, it is good to stick to the norms used. What could be problematic are changes to unspecified norms (other than statewide, national or local) which would result in our inability to use the data for comparisons.
- If the plan is to upload the data, can Loyola also handle the Mclass system (also a data management system) in addition to AIMS-WEB and DIBELS?
We will look into this. Theoretically, if the data can be pulled out from another system, we can import it into VIMEO directly.
- Are these data collected this spring (and due May 1st) uploaded to the Loyola system or should internal coaches use the hard copy to record data and send it on to you?
- Related to Page 7 (data protocol form) School-Level Data, Office Disciplinary Data (page 7 also), and the universal assessment data (page 6 referred to above)-is the plan to provide last year's data (06/07), or this year's data through the end of April, or should sites wait to collect these type s of school-level data until school has ended for the summer? With a deadline date of May 1st, you won't have complete data for this school year.
The deadline for the Data Protocol form and the SAPSI to be at Loyola is 30APR07. We are not dealing with any data retroactively. Ergo, we only want data for the academic year 2006-2007.
- Related to the Technical Assistance Data for the data protocol form (page 8), what is the operational definition of technical assistance. For example, does it include when a teacher brings a student to the problem solving team and/or when the external or internal coach provides consultation to a teacher or parent. Are e-mail correspondence included in this definition?
The operational definition of technical assistance is "when the external or internal coach provides consultation to a teacher or parent... or external coach to the building".
- Related to how these data are analyzed, do we need to generate regional reports or will only a state-wide report be written this spring/summer?
Upon moving to the VIMEO online system, all reporting needs will be taken care of by who needs to generate each report via the online VIMEO system. Regions will be able to generate regional reports within VIMEO.
