Safe Space/Ally Training
On June 15, 2012, the Obama administration announced DREAM act-eligible individuals could apply for Deferred Action. In light of this announcement, the Department of Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, along with the Center for Urban Research and Learning (CURL), will be hosting a training for Loyola University Chicago faculty, staff, and graduate students with the goal to learn more about the history, struggles and needs of undocumented students. This training aims to bring awareness, build safe spaces, and provide allies with resources to support undocumented students within the university. In addition, you will learn about the process of Deferred Action and the requirements necessary to qualify. Two trainings, with lunch provided, will be held at the Lake Shore campus on the following dates:
September 27, 2012, 12-2:30 p.m. (Cuneo Hall, 417 Library/Resource Center)
- RSVP by Monday September 24, 2012.
October 4, 2012, 12-2:30 p.m. (Cuneo Hall, 417 Library/Resource Center)
- RSVP by Monday October 1, 2012.
To better serve our attendees, participation will be capped at 30. Please RSVP with Maria Guzman, email@example.com or 773-508-8501. The last day to RSVP is Monday September 24, 2012, or Monday October 1, 2012.
