Catherine Gillis is a doctoral student in the sociology department at Loyola University Chicago. Catherine received her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, with a concentration in social policy and program evaluation. Prior to joining the PhD program, she worked in affordable housing development and on the implementation of Chicago’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness. Her research interests include gentrification, urban land use policies, social movements and community based research methodologies. Her work at CURL is focused on researching strategies for reducing urban poverty.
