What Attracted Me To CURL:

I first heard about CURL from a friend who was working as a fellow. I attended a Friday Morning Seminar and learned more about CURL’s mission and community partnerships. I knew immediately that I wanted to get involved. My coursework throughout the past three years as an English major and International Studies minor has provided me with a deeper understanding of human emotion, frailty, and strength, as well as a basis for research and analytical skills. Through CURL, I can apply these skills in a way that aligns with my commitment to social justice. I’ve learned a lot about human suffering; now I want to research the systems and foundations in my own community that, with some positive influences, could foster fairness and sustainability.

What I Hope To Gain From CURL:

Through my fellowship with CURL, I hope to learn about and work with different organizations that are actively working to build sustainable solutions to social justice problems. I hope this experience can serve as a step towards a future in the fields of community development or social work. I am excited and eager to become part of a collaborative effort to make my city healthier and more habitable, improving the quality of life for all people.
