Philip Nyden, Ph.D., is a professor and former
chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Loyola. He has
done extensive research and writing on urban policy issues, racial and
ethnic diversity, and university/community collaboration. Some of his
publications include Building Community: Social Science in Action, co-edited
with Darryl Burrows, Anne Figert, and Mark Shibley, 1997; Challenging
Uneven Development: An Urban Agenda for the 1990's, co-edited with Wim
Wiewel, 1991; Chicago: Race, Class, and the Response to Urban Decline,
with K. McCourt, L. Bennett, and G. Squires, 1987.
