Current Research

Principal Investigator, Providing a Citywide System of Single Access to Domestic Violence Information, Resources, and Referrals to a Diverse Population: An Evaluation of the City of Chicago Domestic Violence Helpline. January 2004-December, 2005 (anticipated). This research project is in collaboration with the City of Chicago and is funded by the National Institute of Justice “Broadening our Understanding of Violence Against Women from Diverse Communities” funding initiative.

Principal Investigator, Evaluation of Partnership for Health Care Access Project of Chicago Health Outreach (CHO) and Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4), December 2002-November, 2005(anticipated). This research project assesses the joint delivery of primary care and mental health services to homeless individuals who are mental ill, substance abusers or joint diagnosed. The Chicago project is one of 10 sites of a national HHS study in collaboration and coordination of mental health and primary care services.

Principal Investigator, Evaluation of Supportive Services for Homeless Project. January, 2001-March, 2003 This is an evaluation of a $900,000 collaborative project of 10 homeless and social service provides that provides supportive services to homeless or former homeless individuals. Chicago Health Outreach, Deborah’s Place, and Lake Front SRO (as members of United Power) lead the collaboration. A key goal of this evaluation is to provide information to be utilized by United Power in a homeless policy initiative. The collaboration is funded by HHS.

Principal Investigator, Investigating Domestic Violence among South Asian Women Project. September 2002 – December 31,2004 (anticipated). This is a collaborative research project with Apna Ghar, a South Asian agency that service women who are victims of domestic violence. The project is investigating the occurrences and distinctive elements of domestic violence in Chicago’s South Asian community, evaluating various Apna Ghar service delivery components, examining models of successful intervention and support systems for immigrant women, and reviewing current policy issues. Sara Lee Foundation is funding this research project.
