Overview:
The Center for Urban Research and Learning (CURL) is evaluating the Lead Safe Housing Initiative carried out by Loyola University Chicago's CIVITAS ChildLaw Center. Funded by the Chicago Community Trust, the purpose of the Lead Safe Housing Initiative was to continue the ChildLaw Center's advocacy for children on the issue of childhood lead paint poisoning. Their goals of the initiative were to:
- Implement key strategies identified in LEAD SAFE CHICAGO, the City's strategic plan to eliminate childhood lead poisoning
- Staff and chair the statewide legislatively-mandated Illinois Lead Safe Housing Advisory Council
- Continue and expand the work of the Illinois Lead Safe Housing Task Force, including overseeing and reporting on the city of Chicago's progress in achieving the objectives of its plan to eliminate childhood lead poisoning. The goal of the evaluation will be to assess the ChildLaw Center's success in implementing the City's strategic plan and in overseeing the Advisory Council and Task Force
