Overview:
The goal of this project is to create a comprehensive evaluation of Erie Neighborhood House's Tutoring to Educate for Aims & Motivation (TEAM) program and assess its effects on several aspects of youth’s lives’- academic and non-academic. In collaboration with the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and the University of Illinois at Chicago, several evaluations have already been planned this year to assess the effectiveness of TEAM, including a longitudinal evaluation of youth’s self-concept, self-esteem, and sense of connectedness. Together, these evaluations will serve as a baseline to create a comprehensive report telling the TEAM story. It has been shown, informally, that TEAM helps youth thrive and move on to college successfully. We are interested in investigating whether or not, over the course of a year, TEAM has positive effects on youth’s lives outside of its academic effects. We will possibly continue tracking these effects over the course of several years to examine the long-term effects on the youth who participate week after week in this program.
