Overview:

This is an evaluation of the Christian Community Health Centers’ Footprints Women in Prostitution Project. "Footprints" is a program that will facilitate substance abuse and HIV prevention for women arrested for prostitution in Cook County. The program will focus on providing outreach and services to reduce the rate of infectious disease, drug use, especially injection drug use, relapse and recidivism. The proposed research will address the sexual and drug use behaviors, and knowledge about HIV/AIDS in females.

Outcome:

It is hypothesized that the Footprints intervention will result in positive change in knowledge, attitudes, and risk behaviors related to HIV/AIDS infection and drug use.

Community:

Women Through the Chicago Area.

Funding:

Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA).
