What attracted me to CURL: The collaborative nature of CURL research and its influence on urban policy from the local level. Its collaborative nature ensures viewing urban policy from all facets of the educational eye. CURL's policy that is engaged at the government level, but geared toward the community provides a link in research that combines the needs of the people to the possible allowances of the governing body; a link that is often overlooked.

What I hope to gain from CURL: I hope to be able to place years of institutional learning into experiential work. CURL's identity as a urban policy research center will allow me to better understand the dynamics of Chicago, the city I grew up in, and be able to work toward a positive end for the people of Chicago in the future. I hope to understand some of the basic premises underlying research theory at such a massive scale, and its direct impact on the community. Overall, my hope is to gain a better understanding of the current policies implemented, and how research affects future policy.
