Here is how Laura exemplifies the Jesuit ideals according to her nomination:
Laura Bityou has provided leadership to many different organizations in the past year. She is the type of person who always looks for a challenge and searches for the best result for everyone. I think the Jesuit tradition asks for all to put others before themselves and she epitomizes this position. As President of USG many of her goals have come to fruition: the turf field on Hoyne, extended library and Crown Center computer hours, increased shuttle service for downtown students, and pushing for more student input in shared governance. As a co-founder of Colleges Against Cancer she was co-chair of the first and extremely successful Relay for Life. A co-Founder of the Loyola Assyrian Students club she has given significant time to spread knowledge about the strong Assyrian culture in Chicago and history behind one of the worlds first and largest empire’s. As a telecounselor and student ambassador, Laura takes pride in her school and incorporates all her experiences at Loyola towards these positions. She is also an active member of the Pre-Law Society and College Democrats.
